What to Do When a Cavitation Manual Conflicts with the Sales Page

Professional education · Documentation and acceptance

A specification conflict is a question to resolve before it becomes a treatment decision or a claim in your own marketing.

Short answer: When a cavitation manual conflicts with the sales page, record both statements, confirm which exact device and revision they describe, and obtain a written correction from the responsible manufacturer. Pause any use or publicity that depends on the disputed information. Keep the original documents and the correction together. A manual is not automatically above applicable law or reliable evidence, and a manufacturer's clarification does not establish clinical effectiveness. Resume only after the relevant documentation, safety and authorization questions are resolved.

First, pause the decision that depends on the conflict

Do not choose whichever number or instruction sounds more useful. Start by identifying what the disagreement affects: device identity, electrical compatibility, a handpiece, an allowed application, a safety restriction, or a promised result. This guide recommends a documentation workflow; it is not an international operating protocol or a determination of your local legal duties.

  1. Save the evidence. Retain the manual file, the sales-page URL and a dated capture of the exact wording. Include the relevant page or section, units and function.
  2. Place the affected decision on hold. Do not authorize the disputed application or repeat the disputed specification or benefit in staff training, a service menu or advertising.
  3. Establish responsibility. Ask the seller to identify the manufacturer responsible for the device and route the question to its technical or safety contact.
  4. Request a controlled correction. Obtain a dated, attributable answer identifying the affected equipment and the documents it replaces or amends.

If the uncertainty affects electrical safety, device identity or the reliability of essential safety instructions, keep the whole unit out of service until assessed. An apparently unrelated function should not be treated as cleared just because it has a separate menu. Where the issue is demonstrably confined to an optional attachment or an advertising claim, document that narrower scope rather than assuming it.

Do not test the disagreement on a client. Comfort, sound, warmth or a visible response cannot settle an unknown output specification or validate conflicting safety instructions.

There is no single document that wins every dispute

Use the source that can answer the particular question. Matched manufacturer documentation helps establish intended operation and specifications. An applicable regulatory record addresses the scope of a regulatory claim. Relevant scientific evidence addresses an effect claim. Local rules determine what services and advertising are permitted. A sales page, a manual and a regulator's record are not interchangeable proof.

For US advertising, the FTC requires support for objective claims before dissemination, including implied claims. Its health-products guidance concerns advertising substantiation; it is not an instructions-for-use standard. [1]

Build a conflict record without rewriting the evidence

Give each disagreement its own entry. Preserve what each document actually says, even if one statement looks like a translation error. Keep your interpretation in a separate field. A screenshot of a headline alone can miss a qualification elsewhere on the page, so retain the surrounding context too.

On a narrow screen, scroll this table sideways. These are illustrative document conflicts, not findings about a particular machine.

What to record and what to hold
Conflict category Record and clarify Decision on hold
Frequency or output The exact values, units, named handpiece and location in each document; ask what quantity each value represents. Repeating the disputed specification or authorizing an application that relies on it.
Electrical version Device nameplate, regional configuration and contradictory supply information. A plug shape alone does not resolve the discrepancy. Connection or use where electrical compatibility remains uncertain.
Application or restriction The exact function and wording: a console-level promise is not an instruction for every attachment. The disputed use, including use on a client whose suitability is unresolved.
Cleaning or contact medium The named component and materials, incompatible instructions and document revisions. The affected procedure; do not invent a substitute formula.
Effectiveness or regulatory claim The complete claim, its evidence or record reference and the precise model and intended scope. Repeating that claim until its support and applicability are checked.

Alongside each entry, retain the date, the person handling the issue, the current hold, the requested evidence and the closure decision. These fields make the disagreement traceable; they do not certify compliance.

A real manual example: record both frequency statements

On PDF page 3 of the supplier-hosted 101 English manual, a heading reads “40KHZ burst fat head,” while the paragraph below refers to “sound waves 4000HZ.” Both strings are present in the rendered page, not just the extracted text. [2]

The inconsistency is verifiable; the true output is not established by those two statements. Do not silently add a zero, label it a confirmed typo, or convert the document into a specification for another machine. This is a third-party documentation example, not a SaintQueen manual, a verified measurement or an allegation about a particular sales page.

Check that the documents belong to the same equipment

A shared housing, photograph or family name is not enough to link a manual to the delivered unit. Before asking which document is correct, establish whether the documents describe the same configuration.

  • Physical identity: manufacturer name, exact model, serial or batch identifier and nameplate details.
  • Configuration: supplied applicators, electrical version and relevant hardware or software revision, where identified.
  • Document identity: title, document number, revision, issue date, language and the source that supplied it.
  • Applicability: written confirmation that this revision covers the delivered unit, its attachments and its intended market.

If the manual has no revision marker, record that absence and ask for one; do not infer a revision from the download filename or a URL timestamp. If a seller rebadges equipment, ask it to document the relationship between the sales model and the manufacturer's model rather than treating a similar-looking manual as a match.

Keep the technology attached to the correct function. Low-frequency nonfocused cavitation, focused mechanical ultrasound, thermal high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU), and a 1 MHz ultrasound system should not be treated as interchangeable. Radiofrequency (RF), vacuum and other attachments need their own documentation. A clarification for one applicator does not settle the rest of a combination console.

For a benefit claim, check that the cited evidence concerns the relevant equipment or a scientifically justified equivalent and the claimed outcome. The FTC specifically cautions that valid research can still be irrelevant to the marketed product or claim. [1]

Ask for an answer that can become part of the device record

“Use the latest instructions” is incomplete if no one identifies which instructions are latest or which units they cover. A useful response names the discrepancy, supplies the correction and explains its scope.

A written clarification request

Please confirm which manual revision applies to the delivered model, serial or batch, regional configuration and named applicator. The attached record preserves the conflicting statements and their locations. For each entry, identify the correct specification or instruction, explain the discrepancy, and provide the revised document or a dated amendment authorized by the responsible manufacturer.

Please also state which equipment is affected, which earlier wording is superseded, whether there are safety implications or required corrective actions, and which supporting technical records are available. If the answer concerns an effectiveness or regulatory claim, provide the relevant evidence or exact regulatory record separately.

For an output dispute, ask what the quantity means and how the corrected value was established. Electrical input, acoustic output, intensity and a screen level are different quantities. Where verification is needed, use the responsible technical service or an appropriately qualified independent evaluator; do not improvise a measurement by listening to the applicator or trying it on skin.

A seller's email can preserve useful evidence, but establish whether the sender has authority to issue a manufacturer correction. A newer marketing page without a change explanation does not close the record.

Separate correction from substantiation. A corrected frequency entry does not show fat reduction. A manufacturer letter does not replace scientific support for advertised health effects or establish regulatory authorization. [1]

Close the issue with a version trail, not a replaced file

Preserve the original file and page capture in an archive. Save the correction alongside them, then identify the current working copy clearly. Record the old and new document identifiers, the change, its effective date, the equipment affected and who reviewed the implications. Do not invent dates missing from the supplier's records.

Before lifting a hold, check that:

  • The responsible source has answered the exact conflict in writing.
  • The correction applies to the unit and attachment actually held by the salon.
  • Any necessary safety assessment, technical action and applicable local authorization checks are complete.
  • Staff have the current instructions, and obsolete copies are marked as superseded rather than quietly deleted.
  • Affected training materials, service descriptions and publicity have been reviewed.

A partial answer closes only the part it resolves. If the manufacturer explains a frequency discrepancy but leaves an application restriction unanswered, retain the hold on that application. If no adequate resolution arrives, keep the disputed use suspended and pursue the appropriate technical, contractual or regulatory route for your market.

For US publicity, assess the combined message of the wording and images. A small disclaimer cannot cure an opposing prominent claim. [1] Keep the exact-device operating review and the advertising-evidence review as separate decisions in the record.

Safety boundaries while the dispute is open

Documentation uncertainty is not permission to experiment. Do not invent energy levels, session lengths, intervals, body-area rules, cleaning mixtures or contact media to bridge a disagreement.

The FDA's ultrasound body-contouring overview identifies burns and nerve damage among possible complications and lists restrictions involving damaged skin, active implants and metal beneath the skin. These are technology-level cautions, not clearance for an unnamed cavitation machine. [3]

Stop if use causes pain, burning, blistering or another unexpected reaction, and obtain appropriate healthcare assessment. Resolve suitability questions with a qualified healthcare professional and the exact-device documentation; this article cannot authorize treatment for an individual.

Common mistakes that leave the contradiction unresolved

  • Copying the sales-page value into the manual without retaining the original.
  • Accepting “it is only a typo” without a corrected document and stated applicability.
  • Assuming the newest upload applies to every serial number or regional version.
  • Using a training certificate, review or client result to settle an engineering question.
  • Continuing an unsupported benefit claim because a specification was corrected.

Frequently asked questions

What if the seller says the manual is old?

Ask for the replacement revision, its issue date and written applicability to your unit. Retain the old document. “Old” does not explain which information changed or whether the equipment needs a corrective action.

Does translated wording count as a resolved conflict?

No. A clearer translation helps only if it is tied to the controlled source and the relevant model. Ask the responsible manufacturer to confirm disputed technical or safety wording. Do not let a translator independently choose the specification.

What if staff already used the disputed instructions?

Preserve the relevant device, training and session records; identify the period and applications affected without inventing missing details. Suspend the disputed use and obtain an appropriate safety review. Follow applicable local incident procedures where required, and seek healthcare assessment for reported symptoms. Prior use without a reported problem does not resolve the documentation issue.

Can a refund or replacement close the technical issue?

It can settle a contractual outcome, but it does not establish the disputed specification or justify continuing the same claim. A replacement unit needs its own identity and documentation check.

The decision to retain

Keep a traceable chain from the conflicting statements to the applicable correction and the decision it supports. Until that chain is complete, leave the disputed application or publicity on hold. A resolved specification and a substantiated effect remain two separate questions.
